Viracocha

If you haven’t been here, you have to check it out. It’s a place filled with unusual treasures and neat vintage finds. It’s also a performing arts venue. Tonight they had “Guinevere Q’s Variety Show” – Poets, Puppets, Music, Comedy, Theater, And Other Assorted Experimental Shenanigans. The store carries a range of things from vintage bicycles, clay cooking pots from Paraguay, books on poetry and a small selection of our earthy Billie’s and Tripper’s! Read the nice write ups and reviews they’ve received by some folks like Daily Candy and Bay Guardian. We were lucky to stumble upon Viracocha one night during an after dinner stroll. It’s such an unassuming building and you’d easily pass it by if you were driving or in a rush, but once you get a peek inside you will be hooked.  And if you’re curious about the origin of the name, see what Wikipedia has to say.

Picture perfect.

Today there was sun! Enough to get some good natural light for photo taking. We thought we’d take advantage and snap some pictures of some new things we made. Rona… you’d be so proud!

Yay for Spring colors…

Neutral earthy tones are always a favorite…

We’re almost out of this brown and ivory Zebra print…

We’re sad. This is the last Billie we can make from the Sail print… we’ve only made two. There might be enough fabric to squeeze out a Sonny (or a wallet), but after that it’ll be gone. Unless anyone knows where we can get more?

We made Tripper in a different color. We’re calling it Mushroom. Did we mention we’ve added feet to this bag?

There’s always room for improvement.

Every time we make something we find ways to do it better.  One on hand it’s good, we’re building a better bag.  On the other hand it’s bad, it takes more time (and money) to do it.  We’re not trying to compete with Forever 21, so we figure it’s for the greater good to expend the energy in building a better bag.  We’ve started to add really, really heavy fusible to Billie’s bottom.  This gives it a different shape, but that’s sort of the point… it’s more structured.  Fabric backing will be added to most and we’ve even started to reinforce the inside pockets.  And if the design allows, leather feet and zipper pulls will be added, too. Just when we think we’ve covered it all, we find there’s always room for improvement =)
